Who We Are
One Human Rhythm (OHR) was created by Dan and Bonnie with a simple idea: to make music and creativity feel more accessible to more people.
OHR began with the handpan — an instrument we love because it makes creating music incredibly accessible, even if you’ve never played an instrument before.
We create high-quality handpans for complete beginners through to experienced players, alongside education and personal support to help people get the most from their instrument.
OHR also means “light” in Hebrew — a meaning that felt naturally connected to what we wanted the brand to represent.
At its heart, OHR is about making music, being creative, and enjoying the process.
Why We Started OHR
We believe every human has a rhythm inside them.
Too many people grow up believing they’re “not musical” simply because they’ve never learned an instrument or studied music. The handpan showed us how quickly that belief can change.
You can sit down with no musical background, play a few notes and start creating something that sounds beautiful. There’s freedom in that.
That’s why we started OHR: to introduce more people to the handpan, make learning feel simple and approachable, and help people discover their own creativity through music.
You don’t need to be a musician to make music.
You just need somewhere to start.
Meet the founders
Dan — Musician, Creator & Teacher
I’ve been making music for most of my life. By 14 I was playing guitar, singing in bands and writing my own songs. I’ve always loved creating something of my own, and rhythm was a big part of that, from constantly tapping on things to eventually discovering percussion, djembe and, later, the handpan.
I first discovered the handpan at a local shop on the Gold Coast. I’d find myself going back almost every weekend just to play the one they had on display. Eventually I bought my own, and before long I was performing at breathwork sessions, meditations, yoga classes and events around the Gold Coast.
Funnily enough, it was at one of those beach events that I first met Bonnie, who would later become my partner and co-founder of OHR.
Over time, I began sharing what I was learning online and teaching others to play. After losing my mum in 2023, music became an even more important part of my life and helped clarify what I wanted to spend my time doing.
OHR grew from that journey, our way of helping more people discover that making music can be simple, creative and accessible to anyone.
Bonnie — The Heart and Steady Rhythm of OHR
Music has been part of my life since I was young. I grew up singing, dancing, and performing, purely because I loved the way music made me feel.
It has always been the thing that brings me back into my body and can change my emotional state for the better (and very quickly). It softens things. It helps me reset, whilst also allowing me to let go.
When I discovered the handpan through Dan, I loved how unique, yet approachable it was. One of the many things I love about handpan is that it really helps to bring you into the present moment, no matter how chaotic or busy your life is, which is a very welcomed, and needed thing for me.
When Dan and I met, music was a huge part of both our lives, and that shared love of creativity eventually became part of what we built with OHR.
I’ve always been someone who likes to bring grounding, structure, and clarity to things — taking ideas and helping turn them into something real, thoughtful, and meaningful. That’s a big part of what I bring to OHR.
For me, OHR is about helping people feel calmer, more connected, more inspired, and more themselves through music, whether they’re feeling stressed, playful, curious, or creative.
Our goal is simple:
To help people unlock their creativity through the power of music and the handpan.
We believe everyone has the ability to create, regardless of age, experience or musical background. We want to inspire people to believe in themselves, start playing and discover what they’re capable of.
You don’t need to be a musician.
You just need to start.
